About Me

I'm a volunteer contributor to the Sugarlabs and One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) FOSS projects, where I'm contributing to support XO laptop deployments and maintaining some core Sugar activities. In the (very) near future, I'll be onsite at Paraguay supporting the laptop deployment featuring the Dextrose flavor of sugar.

In the past, I have worked for Freescale Semiconductor, in the capacity of a Design Engineer. I was involved with the development of rev 1.0 and 1.1 of the P1022 multicore System-on-Chip (SoC). I was responsible for the verification of core system components, assisted in silicon validation and bring-up & carried out performance modelling and simulation activities. My CV can be downloaded from here.

Since my teenage, I have been interested in everything 'computer'. My early research was focused on micro-controller based embedded systems. This incorporated the design and development of both, the software and the underlying hardware. Coupled with my undergraduate studies, it offered me a unique insight into the inner workings of these machines that are so ubiquitous in their presence.

In whatever I do, I strive to ensure that my work has a significant real world impact, both social and technical. I have organised embedded systems workshops, presented talks on various relevant topics, and have been proactively involved with introducing developers to FOSS, Linux. Having lived in India, I have experienced illiteracy and the negative impact it has on social progress. Evidently, I'm fascinated by the ways, modern technology can impact education and societal progress.

I get attracted towards projects and opportunities that offer a unique perspective and appeal to my interests. I love tinkering with stuff and prefer the learning-by-doing approach in anything I take up.

I'm also an amateur telescope maker, and built a Dobsonian telescope (that is bigger in size than me!). I do photography when I get the time, my Flickr photostream can be accessed here.

I graduated with a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication from the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (Formerly Delhi Institute of Technology), University of Delhi in 2008.
